Mick Chillage / Ireland

Mick Chillage has been producing electronic-based music since the mid 1990’s and is probably best known for his ambient works. His debut album Tales From the Igloo in 2009 was a kaleidoscope of his influences, embracing Electro, IDM, Dub and moments of cinematic ambience. 2011’s follow-up, FAXology saw Mick fulfill a long-time musical ambition to be signed on Pete Namlook’s FAX imprint. This lead to the ongoing collaboration with Lee Norris, aka Norken & Neo Ouija label founder as Autumn of Communion amongst other collaborations and a steady flow of solo albums on various labels from around the globe.

Mick's influences were first rooted in soundtracks; from the works of John Barry to Vangelis, and John Carpenter. Eventually in the late 80’s Mick discovered Acid House, Techno, and the Ambient movement of the early 90’s, which really connected with his senses & soul.

Mick has spent the last 25 years honing his distinct and subtle production and compositional style. Utilizing a selection of his favorite go-to synths, Mick likes to approach music with an open sonic canvas, sculpting sounds until an evocative inspiring aesthetic emerges, often emerging as long passages of improvisation on the keys or a simple moment that develops into unexpected sonic terrain.
